Duane Baumgartner has spent nearly 25 years in pest control marketing, from selling Yellow Pages ad space to building City Ranked into one of the nations most innovative digital agencies.
Today he’s focused on the shift he believes will separate the winners from the rest: how smaller pest control companies are using AI to outpace the national brands, and build businesses worth dramatically more should they desire acquisition.
About City Ranked
City Ranked is a digital marketing agency built for home services, with pest control at its core. Over 15 years and 500+ pest control companies nationwide, the team has stayed ahead of the shifts that reshape how customers choose a provider, pairing proprietary software that plugs into the CRMs owners already run with AI and automation that turn more leads into booked, higher-value jobs.
The pest control companies winning right now aren’t the biggest, they’re the fastest to adopt. Duane breaks down how smaller PCOs are using AI and marketing automation to beat national brands on their own turf: pulling in more qualified leads from sources beyond Google, pre-qualifying them so the hottest prospects reach sales at the right moment, automatically re-engaging lost leads and winning back cancels, and giving sales teams the tools to close more jobs at a higher average sale. He’ll also share City Ranked’s 2025–2026 study of 150 pest control companies nationwide, the data on who’s pulling ahead, and why.
Prepare your pest control business for tomorrow.
